Software Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Innovation Join to apply for the Software Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Innovation role at New Balance Role Overview As the Software Engineering Manager – Manufacturing Innovation, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of software products supporting New Balance’s Manufacturing Innovation team. You will oversee the development of advanced manufacturing technologies such as robotics, automation, and IIoT, working closely with senior engineering teams to define system requirements, specifications, and maintenance of software systems. Your role will include influencing data strategies, ensuring alignment with business needs, and leading a team of software and data engineers to drive innovation in manufacturing processes. Major Responsibilities Develop and execute software strategies aligned with team and company initiatives. Evaluate new technologies considering performance, cost, risk, and scalability. Provide technical leadership and establish best practices for software development. Define software requirements and collaborate with hardware/software teams. Foster collaboration with manufacturing operations, IT, and innovation leaders. Lead deployment of robotics, automation, IoT, and digital manufacturing systems. Maintain technical documentation and stay updated on industry trends. Conduct feasibility studies, cost analyses, and risk assessments. Manage and mentor a team of technical leads. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s preferred. At least 10 years in solutions architecture, with 5+ years in robotics. Proven managerial success and project deployment experience. Strong knowledge of robotics, automation, computer vision, ML, and manufacturing technologies like IoT, MES, SCADA. Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and edge computing. Excellent problem-solving, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
