Sr. Director, Patient Advocacy and Engagement Servier in the U.S. is a Boston-based, commercial-stage biopharmaceutical company launched by Servier Group in 2018. The Senior Director of Patient Advocacy and Engagement at Servier is a pivotal role dedicated to fostering strong relationships with patient communities and advancing Servier’s enterprise patient-centric approach across multiple disease areas. This is a pivotal leadership role dedicated to leading people and strategy as well as designing and implementing concrete frameworks to ensure we are able to meet enterprise level patient centric quality and quantity metrics. Reporting directly to the Chief of Medical, the Senior Director, Patient Advocacy will lead strategic collaborations with patient advocacy organizations and patient community engagements within the US while collaborating closely with Servier global team(s). This role integrates the perspectives of patients and caregivers into the strategic and operational framework of the organization, spanning research and development to commercial activities, and develops innovative solutions to meet the needs of the patient community. Primary Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive US patient affairs strategy that aligns to US medical affairs and enterprise-wide goals Establish and maintain strong, trustworthy relationships with patient advocacy leaders across various areas including rare disease and oncology Develop patient advocacy landscapes for new disease areas and identify engagement opportunities across Servier, including medical affairs, clinical, policy/government affairs, and commercial Represent Servier at patient advocacy organization meetings both in the US and internationally (when required) Manage external presentations to professional organizations and non-profit partners in the Oncology and Rare Diseases community Participate in cross-functional meetings with clinical, medical affairs, and commercial teams to ensure all plans and activities are informed by the patient voice Identify educational needs of patient communities, particularly regarding novel therapeutic modalities, and develop and facilitate cross-functional strategies to address these needs Serve as a people leader by hiring, managing, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous growth Strategically manage and budget patient advocacy organization charitable donations Stay current with industry and regulatory practices related to patient advocacy and patient input Working with cross-functional colleagues, ensure patient experience data are incorporated in our development, regulatory, and commercial activities Lead the co-creation of governance models, frameworks, and internal process and policy to ensure a strong foundation for patient engagement Establish quality measures and metrics and communications strategy for key stakeholders Provide regular updates to disease communities through appropriate educational and information mechanisms Ensure compliant interactions with patient advocates, patients, families, and caregivers, and monitor evolving global guidelines Develop and implement caregiver strategies to support the needs of patients' families and caregivers and minimize burdens associated with treatment Education And Required Skills Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, nursing or a related field required; Masters degree or other related advanced degree also required Demonstrated patient centric mindset Demonstrated leadership capabilities and skills that support enterprise level impact Demonstrated ability to develop policies and processes that facilitate patient advocacy goal attainment Experience working with stakeholders/partners at all levels and in a highly matrixed environment Minimum of 8+ years of patient advocacy experience in the healthcare/biopharma setting Minimum of 4 years of patient engagement experience – working directly with patient advocates and patient councils Solid understanding of compliance requirements for patient advocacy industry roles Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills; confident in presenting to senior leadership Ability to build rapport quickly with a diverse group of individuals Proactive, objective, and diplomatic influence within all levels of the organization and with external community leaders Collaborative, independent, and able to prioritize strategic areas of importance to the company Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and manage multiple responsibilities with strategic and tactical approaches Travel and Location Location: Boston-based position.
