Sr. Labor and Employment Attorney

Overview Sr. Labor and Employment Attorney role at Weyerhaeuser. This position is located in downtown Seattle and offers remote work up to two days a week (Mondays and Fridays) subject to business needs. You will report to the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel and work with the Labor & Employment team to advise clients on employment matters and manage related litigation.
Responsibilities Advise human resources and business leaders on labor and employment related matters, including discrimination and harassment; disability accommodation and leaves of absence; disciplinary and termination processes; company restructuring activities; wage & hour matters; and local, state, provincial, and federal leave programs.
Provide legal advice regarding and direct workplace investigations.
Draft, review, and advise on developing human resources policies and processes.
Develop and conduct legal training for human resources and business leaders.
Manage employment-related litigation.
Manage investigations and responses to demand letters and administrative complaints (e.g., EEOC, DOL, various state and provincial agencies).
Supervise, manage, and evaluate outside counsel on employment related matters including litigation.
Independently handle legal matters and projects.
Provide legal support and advice on labor issues, including campaigns, trainings, grievances/arbitrations, and negotiations.
Draft and review employment-related agreements.
Provide legal support and advice to safety, compensation, payroll, and benefits teams, including on issues such as OSHA and related local and provincial laws, vacation, health/welfare and retirement benefits, deductions, and compensation reviews.
Assist on company projects as needed.
Qualifications Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
Minimum 10 years of experience practicing employment law, both counseling clients and supporting litigation.
License to practice law required; active member in good standing with the Washington bar preferred.
Exceptional drafting, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proven track record of assuming and directing significant legal responsibilities in a fast-paced, highly collaborative team environment.
Good team player with a focus on client service.
Self-starter with a sense of urgency, integrity, and fairness.
Legal knowledge of and experience with labor law, immigration law, Canadian labor and employment laws, and OSHA and related local/provincial laws a plus.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with clients, stakeholders, law department team members, and other colleagues.
Excellent judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to travel from time to time.

Compensation & Benefits Compensation: Salary range $173,700 - $262,500, based on skills, qualifications and experience. Eligible for annual merit increase and an annual incentive program with a target cash bonus of 30% of base pay. Long-Term Incentive Plan includes $69,000 in restricted stock units per year.
Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance; pre-tax Health Savings Account with company contribution; voluntary benefits and programs; volunteer and diversity initiatives; mentoring and development opportunities.
Retirement: 401(k) plan with company match and annual contribution equal to 5% of base salary.
Paid Time Off: 3 weeks of paid vacation in first year for full-time staff; six months to accrue vacation; eleven paid holidays per year and paid parental leave for full-time employees.
