Overview Zurich is looking for a Liability Trial Attorney to work out of our Staff Legal office in Boston, Massachusetts. This Trial Attorney will be responsible for representing the commercial insureds of a prestigious and financially stable commercial insurance carrier, by preparing and trying moderate complexity General Liability and Commercial Auto personal injury cases.

Responsibilities The selected candidate will perform duties encompassing all aspects of insurance defense, including initial investigation and legal analysis and advice, preparing and filing legal pleadings and documents, performing legal research, preparing for and conducting pre-trial discovery, preparing for and aggressively handling hearings and trials, and conducting post-trial activities where appropriate. The candidate should be able to work independently and with minimal supervision, demonstrate strong case analysis and trial/negotiation skills, and effectively use video conferencing and other computer-based systems for remote, team-based work.
Basic Qualifications Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of experience in the Litigation area
Member in good standing of the Massachusetts State Bar
Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe
Experience working with Lexis or Westlaw
Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance defense litigation legal environment
Knowledge of the law and procedure
Preferred Qualifications Member of the Rhode Island and/or New Hampshire State Bar Associations
Experience with general commercial litigation
Well organized with good analytical skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, proactive approach to file handling and caseloads, and the ability to work independently as well as within a team
Ability to budget costs and calculate exposure for clients
Understands the staff counsel function and role in overall business
Experience with working in a paperless environment
Experience in a remote working environment
Compensation and Benefits The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
In compliance with local laws, Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range for each role. Additional rewards may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases.
