What You’ll Do As a Staff Product Security Architect at Fastly you will help ensure we provide a secure edge for one of the biggest online platforms in the world, handling extensive amounts of traffic at very low latency. You will work with the Security Architecture Team to foster security across Fastly’s applications and infrastructure, empowering all Fastly employees to uphold security responsibility. You will analyze designs, identify complex security issues, and collaborate with engineering and product teams to integrate security into the design and development of Fastly products. Perform secure architecture and design reviews of cloud-based products and work with engineering and product teams to embed secure-by-design principles into builds. Conduct security assessments of CDN and compute platform products to identify threats and define mitigation plans. Perform secure code and configuration reviews as part of the product lifecycle and provide recommendations to strengthen security posture. Influence product design to incorporate security best practices and drive security requirements into the release cycle. Maintain visibility into the product development roadmap to ensure security is integrated throughout the lifecycle. Develop domain expertise in Fastly’s CDN and compute platform products and communicate knowledge to prospects, customers, and auditors. Research new threats and attack vectors and work with product owners to design prevention, detection, and remediation initiatives. Contribute to Fastly’s Secure SDLC and lead training initiatives across the company. Help shape Fastly’s security strategy by advocating for capabilities needed to manage cyber threats. What We’re Looking For We value diverse perspectives. The following highlights represent the position; candidates should possess most of these qualifications and an interest in learning more: 7+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Proven experience securing multi-tenant compute services, proxy servers, Kubernetes, and modern APIs. Extensive experience with threat modeling, secure design reviews, and implementing controls to mitigate threats for cloud-based products. Deep understanding of authorization, authentication, and encryption protocols. Experience with Linux administration at scale and standard security hardening practices. Working knowledge of common web and container-based vulnerabilities. Strong knowledge across the information security stack with hands-on security engineering experience. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex security issues and recommend effective solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work Hours and Location This position requires availability during core business hours. Location options include San Francisco, Denver, New York, or remote within the US. Fastly embraces a largely hybrid model with flexibility to split time between office and home. Travel may be required as needed. Salary and Benefits Estimated salary range: $211,370.00 to $253,664.00. Starting salary varies based on experience, skills, qualifications, and location. Eligible for Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
