Position Overview We are seeking a dynamic Strategic Tax Manager to join our growing Denver office and support our Central Region and national firm initiatives. In this role, you will engage in a wide array of tax consulting projects—including researching tax strategies, implementing value-added solutions, and providing transaction planning for mergers and acquisitions. You’ll be part of a collaborative team tackling complex and unique tax scenarios, requiring strong technical expertise across a diverse range of areas. A key focus will be analyzing client and prospect situations to identify innovative tax-saving opportunities aligned with their business goals and vision. Typical responsibilities include: Reviewing client and prospect tax positions to uncover more advantageous methods, structures, or planning opportunities Assessing business operating structures, evaluating potential acquirers, and supporting the negotiation of favorable deal terms to maximize after-tax outcomes for clients Leading the development and coordination of overall transaction strategies, understanding both business issues and owner objectives Conducting research and technical analysis on topics such as Section 1202 gain exclusions, structuring for growth or business change, leveraging new tax legislation, and optimizing ownership and operating structures for efficiency
You will work closely with a managing director of strategic tax consulting and provide support to client service teams. This is a project-based consulting position and does not involve tax compliance work, aside from ensuring clear communication of technical details to support delivery of the intended benefits to clients. Essential Functions and Primary Duties Regarded as a Subject Matter Expert within business unit and shares knowledge Make recommendations on internal department procedures Recognize business opportunities for our clients and prospects Relied upon for knowledge of industry trends, identify client issues and conflicts; proactively communicate solution options to management and team Manage staff and assist general service teams on engagement deliverables relate to consulting; complete reviews as a member of the final review team to ensure quality control standards are met Responsible for new client development in partnership with upper management; participate in client meetings and presentation and proposal development Understand client’s goals, needs and vision Supervise, train and mentor staff; listen and communicate effectively Work to develop responsible, trained staff by conducting performance feedback and evaluations Drive a team environment; demonstrate support of management decisions and builds a positive culture Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree required 8 years experience in public accounting or related field 5 years supervisory Must have active CPA or equivalent certification Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally Proficient use of applicable technology Must be able to travel based on business needs The annual salary target for this job in this market is $120,000-$180,000. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
