Overview Tax Director – Private Credit (Boston, MA)
A leading Boston-based private credit fund is seeking a Tax Director to join its growing team. Reporting to the Head of Tax, this individual will serve as the primary advisor on tax planning, structuring, and reporting, with a strong emphasis on partnership taxation and credit-oriented investment products.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (advanced degree—JD, LLM, or MST—preferred).
CPA, attorney, or equivalent professional credential required.
Minimum 10 years of progressive tax experience within credit funds, private equity, or alternative investments.
Expertise in partnership taxation, Subchapter K, and taxation of debt instruments/financial products.
Familiarity with U.S. and international tax considerations for cross-border investments.
Experience leading professional teams and managing external advisors/auditors.
Key Responsibilities Act as the principal tax advisor to senior leadership and investment professionals.
Develop and implement tax strategies aligned with fund objectives and operations.
Provide technical guidance on the tax impact of credit, structured products, SMAs, distressed debt, securitizations, and CLOs.
Deliver tax analysis for new investments, financings, and divestitures.
Lead tax due diligence efforts on potential investments.
Partner with investor relations to prepare disclosures and address investor inquiries.
Establish internal policies, procedures, and controls relating to tax.
Oversee documentation of tax positions and compliance with governance standards.
Manage audits and examinations with tax authorities.
Supervise and mentor junior staff in tax and finance functions.
Coordinate and manage relationships with external advisors, auditors, and legal counsel.
