This role is responsible for managing compliance and reporting obligations, steering tax planning strategies, and partnering across departments to support the company’s evolving financial landscape. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of corporate tax and income tax accounting, and has experience navigating growth, change, and complexity - whether through M&A activity, geographic expansion, or evolving business models. What You’ll Do Take ownership of corporate tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Lead the preparation and review of income tax provisions under U.S. GAAP, including quarterly and year-end processes. Assess and develop tax strategies that support the business, minimize exposure, and align with long-term financial goals. Serve as a resource to senior management on tax matters tied to new business activity, restructures, and emerging legislation. Support transactions from a tax perspective, including diligence, structure, and integration. Enhance tax operations through better use of systems, automation tools, and refined workflows. Lead, mentor, and grow the internal tax team; support a culture of accountability, learning, and execution. Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Legal, and FP&A to ensure alignment on business decisions and reporting. Your Background Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or advanced tax degree strongly preferred 8+ years of experience in corporate tax, ideally with both public accounting and in-house exposure Strong technical command of U.S. income tax rules and financial reporting standards (e.g., ASC 740) Experience with complex transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, or legal entity changes Ability to navigate ambiguity and manage multiple priorities in a high-growth environment Familiarity with corporate tax systems and reporting tools; experience with implementation or process change a plus Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing and developing teams Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially when translating technical topics for non-tax audiences The Equus Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer and takes pride in maintaining a diverse environment.
