Thermal Fluids Analyst (Temporary Assignment) BWX Technologies, Inc. is seeking a skilled Thermal Fluids Analyst to fulfill a temporary need within our System Design team. This role is intended to provide additional support for a terrestrial microreactor program for up to a 6-month timeframe. The temporary role offers flexibility and can be performed onsite at our Advanced Technologies office in Lynchburg, VA, remotely, or as a hybrid position. Responsibilities: Update an existing thermal/fluid model and generate a report on the results. Modify and enhance pre-existing thermal/fluid models to reflect the updated design parameters. Run simulations to evaluate system-level thermal performance. Interpret and analyze results to identify trends, deviations, and design implications. Prepare a detailed technical report summarizing the modeling approach. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure model accuracy and alignment with system design objectives. Candidate must have experience with fluid modeling systems utilizing tools such as AFT Fathom, AFT Arrow or Flownex. Required Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in engineering or physics is required. A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in engineering is required. Must have a strong understanding of heat transfer and fluid mechanics. Must possess a technical background in mechanical engineering design, fluid systems, thermodynamics, and process instrumentation. Must be proficient with standard Microsoft Office applications. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must possess the ability to self-direct with minimal day-to-day supervision. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.
