Values Aligned & Sustainable Investments Director
Base pay range: $126,000.00/yr - $252,000.00/yr
This hybrid role is based in Boston, Scottsdale, Los Angeles, Denver, Atlanta or Washington D.C. and requires at least three days per week in the office. You will join Mercer’s Values-Aligned & Sustainable Investments (VA/SI) team within the Office of the CIO, serving Mercer’s large discretionary and advisory institutional client base. The senior investment professional will provide best-in-class VA/SA services to clients, covering client strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction and implementation for advisory or outsourced fiduciary implementation.
Responsibilities
Work in partnership with the VA/SI team, asset class and segment portfolio management teams to develop model and custom VA/SI portfolios aligned with client objectives
Perform VA/SI client engagement and solutions delivery across governance framework to baseline analytics to portfolio design/implementation
Synthesize complex data analytics into a client-ready, accurate, and concise narrative with key takeaways and actionable next steps
Act as a source of innovation and best practices for VA/SI operational efficiency and scale
Collaborate with leaders across various client profiles to provide the latest market developments/services to clients
Establish credibility as a subject matter expert for VA/SI solutions (from data analytics to investments to reporting) and present capabilities and expertise internally and externally
Be viewed as a trusted resource across the broader platform with the ability to handle and run client meetings and manage deliverables with minimal assistance
Demonstrate a deep understanding of VA/SI portfolio frameworks, select lists, and model portfolios and effectively communicate key concepts to colleagues and clients
Intentionally foster strong connections within the broader investment ecosystem
What you need to have
BA/BS degree in finance, economics, or other business-related areas
7+ years of experience within manager research or portfolio management
Demonstrable expertise and investment track record in VA/SI investment implementation (e.g., climate solutions investing, impact investing, stewardship investing) at the asset class or portfolio level
Experience designing and delivering client presentations and proposals that are visually engaging, polished and concise
Demonstrated ability to influence decision makers with thoughtful presentations
Experience with portfolio design, construction and implementation
Understanding of relative risk/return dynamics and multi-asset portfolio nuances for balancing conventional and VA/SI objectives
What makes you stand out

Strong track record in VA/SI investing for institutional clients, particularly US endowments and foundations
Experience investing in Alternatives asset classes, including private equity and private real assets
Direct investing experience with a high-performing track record
CFA or CAIA certification

The applicable base salary range for this role is $126,000 to $252,000. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and any applicable minimum wage requirements. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
