Position Overview
The VP, Product Engineering, Full Service Applications, is based at our headquarters in Newton, MA, with a hybrid remote and office work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Establish and maintain strong partnerships with business leaders to develop IT application plans aligned with our strategic architecture.
Ensure delivery of strategic application solutions to business lines and functional groups.
Manage the evolution of our product engineering functions, standardizing development processes and methodologies.
Develop and maintain a roadmap for our applications, including short-term and long-term solutions, integration opportunities, and architecture development.
Implement standards for requirements documentation, development, testing, change control, and bug tracking.
Forecast requirements, prepare budgets, monitor expenditures, analyze variances, and initiate corrective actions.
Support project management practices, including planning, performance tracking, risk management, and mitigation.
Lead and develop the internal product engineering team to meet application development needs.
Establish and ensure adherence to technical standards for product development and operations.
Manage relationships with external development partners, optimizing costs, service levels, and risk mitigation.
Drive architecture simplification, application rationalization, and cost reduction to create business synergies.
Promote innovative technological and cultural approaches to introduce new products and capabilities.
Decision-Making Authority
This role reports to the GVP, Head of Product Engineering, and manages internal and external application resources both domestically and internationally.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field; Master's or MBA preferred.
Extensive experience in IT applications development and delivery.
15+ years in leading architecture, design, development, testing, and support of complex enterprise IT solutions.
Experience developing engaging mobile applications for iOS and Android.
Proficiency with technologies such as .Net, Angular, React, cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS), Python, NoSQL, MongoDB.
Experience with cloud migrations, native cloud development, and enterprise cloud strategies.
Expertise in deploying and retiring IT solutions, designing interfaces, and supporting integration.
Knowledge of project lifecycle methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid).
Proven management of virtual teams and external partners within budget and performance targets.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
