Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Officer (BDO) to originate new investment opportunities with an emphasis on owner-user commercial real estate loans, focusing on SBA 504 and conventional financing. This role is ideal for a senior originator with 10+ years of production experience, a proven referral network, and deep understanding of the credit, documentation, and structuring requirements of SBA and owner-user lending. You will primarily be responsible for sourcing, structuring, and managing a pipeline of owner-occupied CRE deals through both direct and referral channels.The position offers significant earning potential, autonomy and ownership of your target markets, and professional growth within a multidisciplined originations and management team. Key Responsibilities ·Own your geography: Originate SBA 504 and conventional owner-user real estate loans in your dedicated markets through established referral relationships, direct outreach, and strategic partnerships. ·Develop and manage a strong pipeline of qualified investment opportunities across specific, targeted markets. ·Collaborate with credit and underwriting teams to structure debt investments and ensure compliance with Liberty’s credit criteria. ·Educate and support borrowers through the application, underwriting, and closing process. ·Maintain and grow broker and referral source relationships, including CDCs, commercial brokers, and correspondent partners. ·Represent Liberty SBF at conferences, industry events, and client meetings as a senior-level originator. The candidate must have the ability and drive to travel outside of local markets - required at least once per month. ·Work cross-functionally to support marketing efforts, team administration and planning. Qualifications ·Minimum 10 years of experience in SBA 504 and owner-user commercial lending, preferred. Experience with investment real estate finance, real estate investment management or private equity, and asset management a plus. ·Proven track record of originating and closing SBA 504 and conventional CRE loans. ·Strong knowledge of SBA SOP guidelines, loan structuring, and credit risk. ·Deep relationships with referral sources (e.g., CDCs, brokers, real estate professionals, etc). ·Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills. ·Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently and drive business in a nimble and fast-paced team environment. ·Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or industry certifications (e.g., NACLB, CCIM) preferred.
