Overview Our client is seeking a Vice President, Director for Release Engineering with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in distributed systems spanning both the public and private cloud. The candidate should thrive on working with diverse partners, articulate the business impact of problems, and dive deep into technical solutions. The products include AWS, IBM iSeries, and zSeries, with a large footprint in AWS. This impactful role is within OMF’s Productivity Engineering organization. The ideal candidate will design and maintain scalable, reliable infrastructure, mentor junior DevOps engineers, collaborate with development teams, monitor system performance, stay updated on emerging technologies, foster continuous improvement, ensure security best practices, and collaborate on incident response.
Responsibilities Design and maintain scalable infrastructure supporting DevOps CI/CD platforms.
Manage large-scale implementations of Source Code Management solutions and Code Management Systems.
Define and implement best practices for branching, deployment, configuration, and artifact management to ensure consistent releases.
Apply SRE principles to improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
Collaborate with development and enabling teams to develop tools across the technology portfolio.
Leverage cloud architecture, applying site reliability principles, and troubleshoot across network, application, security, OS, containers, and distributed services.
Ensure security best practices are integrated into infrastructure and deployment pipelines.
Develop monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively address issues.
Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization to meet SLOs.
Drive security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
Collaborate on incident response and lead post-mortem analyses to prevent recurrence.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
8+ years experience with AWS cloud services, including automation and scaling.
Strong leadership and people management skills.
Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, Jenkins, and similar technologies.
Understanding of IT financial structures and managing process costs.
Experience with open-source tools and distribution engines.
Proven success leading large-scale initiatives and transformations.
