Overview Client Director position at Black & Veatch, an employee-owned company recognized for inclusive culture and leadership in water and wastewater infrastructure. The role is based in the Northern California region with potential hybrid or flexible work options after the first 90 days. This is a leadership role focused on client relationship development, pursuit leadership, and strong financial management for multi-million-dollar water-related projects.
Key Responsibilities
Business development
Lead team efforts for marketing
Strategy development
Prospect identification, proposal development, client presentations, project budgeting and contracting for successful opportunities
Accountable for new business objectives and for overall project performance
Project management
Interact with assigned clients, participate in client activities, and promote Black & Veatch through client and community activities
Support development of market plans, strategies, and client engagement, leveraging resources to expand market footprint
Project execution
Oversight of engineering managers
Develop project performance goals and ensure implementation
Manage budgeting, invoicing, payments, and project performance reviews
Staff management
Team development, mentoring, and coaching
Identify and develop candidates to expand the team and support promotions
Management responsibilities
Act as a project manager and oversee a project team; team composition may vary by project
Qualifications Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of active water/wastewater experience with leadership in the Northern California market
Professional Engineer license; Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
Understanding of budgets and financial metrics
Contract negotiation skills including terms, risks, pricing, and payment terms
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, MVR search) as applicable
Salary and Benefits Salary range: $158,700.00 – $301,225.00.
