Overview

Head of Machine Learning & AI Engineering role at PeopleConnect Staffing. Location: Remote in USA only; periodic travel to Seattle, Bay Area for team and client meetings. Compensation: $200,000 - $215,000 upon funding. Reports To: Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Team size: 2–4 Product Managers/Analysts within the initial 12 months, with cross-functional influence over design & data teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure customers experience deep, lasting success from the sales cycle through onboarding, ongoing use, impact, and renewal.
  • Embed within the customer environment to understand context, challenges, needs, and use cases; ensure the platform delivers maximum relevance, adoption, and transformative value.
  • Lead core AI model development and deployment efforts; define and execute AI/ML strategy for neuro-symbolic, human-in-the-loop applied vertical AI and agentic AI ecosystem solutions.
  • Oversee the full ML project lifecycle—from research and prototyping to model training, evaluation, and production deployment.
  • Mentor a team of ML engineers and data scientists, fostering innovation and engineering excellence in areas such as natural language understanding, knowledge graph reasoning, and reinforcement learning for agentic behavior.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of AI/ML experience with at least 5 years hands-on building and deploying ML models; several years in a leadership or tech lead role.
  • Strong programming skills in Python; proficient in C++ or Java.
  • Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn; familiarity with distributed computing or big data (Spark, Hadoop).
  • Cloud platforms experience (AWS, GCP, Azure) and scaling in production environments.
  • Solid theoretical foundation in AI (algorithms, statistics, deep learning) and practical coding skills for implementing and optimizing models.
  • Track record delivering AI solutions in real-world production settings; understands data quality, monitoring, and scalability concerns.
  • Early-stage startup experience is highly preferred.
  • Collaborative team player with a hands-on approach to development.
  • Master’s or PhD in a related field; publications or patents are a plus.
  • Citizen or Green Card Holder; not able to sponsor at this time.
