Overview ABOUT THE POSITION The Senior Director of Education & Training will lead the education and training function across the organization. This branch of the organization serves to educate both internally and externally about suicide prevention , intervention and postvention through training , workshops and community events. These are provided for any group, including, but not limited to youth, adults, and older adults. Internal training includes oversight of helpline training for all of our crisis programs. Workshops occur in a variety of settings, such as schools, corporations, non-profit organizations, and many others.
The Senior Director's role is to oversee this department, ensuring programmatic leadership to its staff, as well as develop new training and curriculums that reflect best practices in suicide prevention , intervention and postvention and help Samaritans reach new audiences.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the organization's training strategy to support suicide prevention , intervention and postvention goals , and service delivery standards
Identify emerging trends, research, and evidence-based practices in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention and integrate them into training programs
Collaborate wit h leadership to align training initiatives with organizational objectives and funding requirements
Develop and implement plans and objectives for the department in an effective and innovative fashion
Education & Training
Plan and design curricula for educational programs for varied audiences; research and define educational goals, objectives , and methodologies to meet program goals and best practices in mental health and suicide prevention, intervention and postvention
Ensure training content is trauma-informed, culturally competent, and compliant with relevant regulations and guidelines (e.g., national suicide prevention standards, accreditation requirements)
Deliver and train the team to deliver high-impact training sessions and presentations when needed, in-person and virtually
Develop and implement initiatives to target specialized populations, geographic communities, and the adaptation of curriculum for different groups
Lead efforts to have Samaritans training materials approved by the Best Practices Registry at the Suicide Prevention Resource Center
Operations
Participate as a senior member of the agency's program management team
Oversee daily operations of the education and training team
Must be able to evaluate problems accurately and resolve conflict by displaying good, sound judgment
Assess and report progress to leadership team, senior leadership team, and Board of Directors in meeting department objectives
Manage department staffing needs ( e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)
Participate in budget development and monitoring of expenses
Quality Assurance & Evaluation
Establish and monitor training quality standards, including pre / post evaluations, participant feedback, and performance metrics.
Ensure ongoing improvement of training methods and materials based on evaluation results and new research
Enhance virtual programs and seek out adequate technology to support all aspects of programming
Maintain compliance with external regulations and internal policies
Maintain up to date certification in evidence-based practices and programs
Management
Supervise and mentor training staff, contractors, and volunteer trainers
Strong understanding of HR practices related to hiring, effective supervision, and
Build trainer capacity through coaching, professional development, and performance feedback
Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain relationships with partner organizations, funders, and community stakeholders to expand training reach and impact
Represent the organization at conferences, coalitions, and public events
Community Relations & Communication
Serve as a representative for Samaritans in the community
Establish, maintain and foster partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations
Facilitate communication and maintain relationships with stakeholders, promote awareness of community education programs and services
Establish Samaritans as a thought leader in the field of suicide prevention through participation in conferences, papers, presentations etc .
Requirements Some travel for workshops, trainings, and industry related conferences
Lifting / moving of supplies and being outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather, for events
Flexibility in working hours appropriate to meet organizational goals is required
Successfully complete Samaritans' internal trainings including all helpline training for crisis programs
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Key Qualifications Minimum of seven years of professional experience in a social service agency
Minimum five years of professional and managerial experience in the mental health field with a focus in curriculum design and delivery required
Master\'s degree in education, public health, human services or a related field preferred
Proven background managing large teams in high stakes environments
Familiarity and experience with helpline operations and metrics
Knowledge of the field of suicide prevention, intervention and postvention
Knowledge of curriculum development and theory
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
Strong communication skills, including the ability to make effective and persuasive presentations to communities, volunteers, staff, industry peers, board members, donors and others as required
Adept at interacting with others in person, over the phone, on zoom, or via email
Resolves conflicts and internal issues appropriately, ability to provide difficult feedback
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Experience with Salesforce preferred
Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills
Detail oriented and able to accomplish tasks within prescribed time frames
Salary & Benefits The salary range for this position is $104,000.00– $120,000.00 annually and will be determined based on experience and skill set.

Out of state applicants will be required to relocate to Massachusetts within six months of employment and also work the same hybrid schedule as all employees.
