Responsibilities Identify areas of risks and suggestions for improvement, answer complex legal questions, and respond to other matters in a wide-variety of legal practice areas. Assist with regulatory, professional liability, and conflict matters, ensuring compliance with professional standards, laws, regulations, and internal firm policies. Supervise firm litigation matters and coordinate such matters, as needed, with outside counsel and advise firm management on litigation-related risks. Advise on a wide range of contract matters, including engagement letters with clients and contracts with vendors, as well as reviewing and identifying exceptions to legal terms included with requests for proposals. Counsel management and partners on issues arising from complex client situations, including client acceptance, continuation, and termination. Support and advise regarding subpoena compliance and coordinate document production and related preservation and discovery obligations. Advise on firm employment matters, including employee relations, terminations, and compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations. Provide strategic legal advice on M&A transactions and conduct legal due diligence. Requirements Experience in a variety of legal areas, including professional liability, contract, data security, and employment Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office products and web-based technology like SharePoint and Cloud Computing Qualified individuals must either reside in or near the Southfield, MI, Chicago, IL, or Denver, CO areas or be willing to relocate to one of these areas for this opportunity. Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in Michigan, Illinois, or Colorado Prior experience working within an accounting firm or providing services to accounting or similar professional service firms as outside counsel preferred. 5+ years recent experience in either: Practicing attorney at a law firm As In-House Counsel What makes us different?
