Vice President of Marketing

The Vice President of Marketing will report directly to the COO and serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This individual will lead all aspects of Gemba's marketing function-building a high-performance team, scaling our multi-location marketing engine, and strengthening brand affinity in both legacy and new markets. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a strategic operator who thrives in high-velocity startup environments. You will own the strategy, execution, and performance of all marketing channels-from digital acquisition and local store marketing to branding, communications, and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Brand Development Define and evolve the brand architecture, positioning, and messaging framework. Develop a cohesive marketing strategy aligned with company growth goals and expansion roadmap. Establish KPIs and performance dashboards to track marketing ROI and brand awareness metrics. Customer Acquisition & Growth Marketing Build and optimize omnichannel campaigns across paid search, paid social, email, direct mail, and local activation. Launch new market campaigns in conjunction with store openings, ensuring demand generation from day one. Identify and test new channels to accelerate acquisition while managing CAC and LTV. Digital, CRM & Marketing Technology Lead CRM, marketing automation, and loyalty program implementation to drive repeat traffic and lifetime value. Own the marketing tech stack, partnering with external vendors as needed to scale operations efficiently. Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration Build and lead a high-performing internal marketing team and agency partners. Collaborate closely with Operations, Finance, and Store Leadership to align marketing with guest experience, staffing, and unit-level performance. Partner with Recruiting to drive employer brand awareness. Qualifications & Experience Required: 5+ years in marketing leadership roles, with at least 2+ in a VP or Head of Marketing position at a high-growth startup or multi-location retail brand. Proven track record of brand development, campaign execution, and customer acquisition that directly fueled company growth. Expertise in performance marketing (Google, Meta, Programmatic), local marketing, SEO, and CRM. Strong leadership, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Deep analytical skills and experience managing budgets with rigorous ROI discipline. Exceptional communication and storytelling ability-internally and externally.
Preferred: Experience in automotive, franchise, or multi-unit consumer services. Prior involvement in private equity-backed growth environments. Familiarity with platforms such as Google Ads, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and marketing automation tools.
